The RCE Youth Coordinator of RCE Greater Gombak (RCE G2), Ahmad Ali Karim paid a visit to RCE South Poland (RCE Polska Południowa; RCE PP) on 6 August 2024, as part of his visit to Poland to attend the Wikimania 2024 conference in Katowice.

Hosted by Jagiellonian University, Kraków, RCE PP is among the newest RCEs to be recognised by the United Nations University’s Institute for the Advanced Studies of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) in January 2023.

Presenting about Communiversity to RCE PP, 6 August 2024.

Ahmad Ali visited their university alongside Taufik Rosman from one of RCE G2’s partners, Wikimedia Malaysia, and they were received by RCE PP’s Deputy Director, Dr. Marek Frankowicz, and Secretary, Dr. Alicja Rafalska-Łasocha from the Faculty of Chemistry.

The visit started with introducing each RCE to each other, before proceeding with discussions on the activities and policies conducted in each region.

Both delegates also discussed on opportunities for collaboration and further networking, especially with RCE PP’s vast and seasoned experience in networking across the borders of the European nations.

Being from different continents, it was interesting for the two regions to observe the varying scenarios and challenges faced by each other, and how working together could strengthen each other’s weaknesses while further complementing the other’s strengths.

The visit wrapped up with a visit to RCE PP’s sustainable rooftop garden, before going to lunch at the faculty cafe and enjoying local Polish cuisine.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone at RCE South Poland for the warm hospitality and meaningful discussions throughout the visit.
